Experience: Once an outstanding staff recommended by the Srinakhon Bank before resigning to work as an artist by living and painting amidst nature on Doi Khuntan mountain for five months during 1982-83. He came down from Doi Khuntan with a series of paintings. He then joined with friends from the College to form the Tawan Group and organized his first exhibition at the Montien Hotel. After spending sometimes in Bangkok, he went back to his home town in the South and completed his second series of paintings. He and the Tawan Group held another exhibition at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel in late 1984. He then went up North again and painted the series of Thai wild orchids for a solo exhibition at the 'Wai Sa Mae Fa Luang' Festival in 1986. During 1987-90 he regularly travelled between Bangkok and Chiang Rai to paint a series on life and nature on mountains. Four of the paintings from this Fourth series were chosen to be reproduced by the Thai Red Cross Society as its New Year card in 1990. Wichien worked on his Fifth series with other members of the Tawan group in the "Beautiful Forest Crystal Clear Water and the Dream Sun" project, stressing forest protection and natural conservation, at the Montien Hotel in 1990.
